Speaker Symptoms

The speakers make no sound, but the power light is on.

First Step : Check that the speakers are attached to the correct headphone socket on the sound card.
More information : Most soundcards have several sockets of the standard headphone variety. Normally there will be one marked 'Line out' or something similar - this is the one which your speakers should be connected to. If it is not marked, look in your sound card documentation.
